So I like to think I’ve got a pretty open mind when it comes to writing about Liverpool. I try to draw inspiration from anything and everything. But I’ll be honest, I never thought I’d end up writing about Jeff Bezos on this Substack.

And yet, here we are. With the Liverpool landscape currently as dry as the Sahara, the only news worth talking about right now surrounds Fenway Sports Group and a curious consortium circling Anfield.

Amit Bhatia is the face of the syndicate according to reports, with Bezos having been approached to join. FSG are apparently weighing up the prospect of selling 30 per cent of their majority stake.

That’s a lot. In fact, it’s enough to suggest something bigger could lie ahead further down the line, with Bhatia’s firm potentially setting themselves up to take full control of the Reds in the future.

Now, I’m not going to delve into the specifics of a possible deal. You’ve got the Financial Times for that. But what I do care about is routinely overlooked among supporters. Does Bezos know the score?
