Something different this week.
So I’ll be in Amsterdam when you read this post. If it’s good enough for John Heitinga, it’s good enough for me. But given that, I’ve had to plan ahead for this week’s Friday piece.
I’m sitting down to write this one earlier than usual, so I can get it finished before I go. And I’m telling you this just in case Liverpool buy Lamine Yamal at some point in the next few days.
This post isn’t about Yamal, no. So apologies if the Reds did indeed end up signing the best teenager we’ve ever seen. I wanted to write about something that would remain timeless before the end of the week.
The transfer landscape changes in minutes, so rather than writing about players, I wanted to discuss a certain Pep Lijnders. Like Heitinga, he was once a number two at Anfield.
But next season, it looks like he’ll represent the enemy.
The modern portrayal of Lijnders is a funny one. One of the reasons I’m writing this piece is because half of the fanbase seem to think he’s terrible at his job.
Lijnders is kinda painted as a chancer by some. A chatterbox coach who had a negative impact on Liverpool’s fortunes. A guy who revealed our secrets by writing a book about them. Jason Tindall meets Brendan Rodgers.
